Operational Review

Like the human body, hospitals need the occasional ‘health check’. Day to day pressures can lead to some departments and/or areas of service functioning at lower than appropriate levels and never being ‘diagnosed’ or ‘treated’.

Financially, for public hospitals, there is waste of money, while in private hospitals, the shareholders return is not maximised. QHS staff has developed an Operational Review process that examines every part of a hospital’s activity, provides detailed feedback to managers and sets a framework for action plans to address all aspects identified for improvement.

The process incorporates accreditation standards but goes behind the standards to challenge the processes by which those standards are achieved. The Review covers ‘back of house’ areas not normally included in accreditation systems.
